In anticipation of the upcoming Scotiabank Charity Challenge runs, we’ve got a pretty fabulous bonus for running or walking on the CCAC’s “Get Your Butt Seen” team.
Want yours? The CCAC is one of the only national not-for-profit organizations for all five events across Canada:
- Montréal – Banque Scotia 21k de Montréal et 5k
- Halifax – Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon
MAY 20th to 22nd
- Calgary – Calgary Marathon
- Vancouver – Scotiabank Vancouver Half Marathon & 5K
- Toronto – Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon
Happy holidays from the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada!
The entire CCAC team wishes you health and happiness in 2011. Cherish the holiday season- and perhaps even remind your loved ones that, if caught early, Colorectal Cancer is Preventable, Treatable and Beatable!
Massive thanks to Ogilvy Montreal and Halogen Film Studio, who created this cheeky GetYourButtSeen spinoff. Share it with your friends and family, or upload it to Facebook!
The magic of the GetYourButtSeen Runway Gala simply couldn’t have happened without the incredible contributions of our corporate sponsors and generous donors.
These benefactors believed in the gala when it was no more than the glamorous dream. On behalf of the Colorectal Cancer Association’s staff, volunteers and patients, thank you for your incredible support.

It was sexy, it was flashy, it was rock & roll- and it raised crucial funds for the CCAC’s awareness campaigns, advocacy initiatives and patient support programs.
On December 1st, the CCAC’s first GetYourButtSeen Runway Gala rocked the Olympia Theatre in Montreal, welcoming some 250 guests and a whole host of media coverage. The GetYourButtSeen bus campaign turned heads, and we know this will too- so we’re taking this saucy soiree on the road! The next chapter in this saga takes place in Toronto in spring/summer 2011.
We’re still crunching the numbers and support is still pouring in, but it looks like this endeavor raised upwards of $175,000 for the cause- an incredible first year!
After the cut, enjoy some photographic previews of what’s in store for Toronto 2011.

CCAC: We’ve had marathon runs, golf tournaments and baseball games, but The Ginga and Friends Charity Game may be the first soccer game that has ever benefited the CCAC! What inspired Ginga Soccer Inc. to dedicate this year`s event to the fight against colorectal cancer?
GINGA SOCCER INC.: Kevin’s [founder of the organization] father was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer and had surgery in February 2009. He is now is clear of Colorectal Cancer!
CCAC: What can we expect on the day of the event?
GINGA: There will be two teams playing a soccer game (hence the Ginga and Friends name). Both teams will consist of family, friends and employees of Ginga Soccer. At half time there will be a competition where five children get to shoot from half to try and win a prize. There are gift certificates and a cash prize of $100.00! The soccer club is having their annual banquet later on in the evening and Kevin will be guest speaking, as he did last year. We will have the banners up for the CCAC throughout the day and people will be educated on the disease and ways to reduce risk.
CCAC: Some studies have shown that regular exercise can greatly reduce one’s risk of developing colorectal cancer. Does Ginga Soccer Inc. have any tips for someone who would like to use soccer to get fit and reduce their risk?
GINGA: Any exercise in someone’s daily regimen is highly recommended. Ginga Soccer strongly suggests stretching. It is very important to stretch!
Edmonton is home of CCAC Cancer Coaches Deseree Dobson and Holly Pryma, organizers of the Slo Pitch Tournament for Hope and Awareness. The former alerted us that the iconic GetYourButtSeen butt has now been posted to select buses in the Edmonton area!
Just look at that storm cloud in the background! Could it be the whirlwind media frenzy that our iconic GetYourButtSeeen bottom is bringing to Halifax?
Metro Halifax has already picked up the story, and we hear there’s been talk of the campaign on the radio, too. Response has been very positive, but some worry it’s too edgy.
Get shocked and get SCREENED, we say!
