Held at the Keystone Centre as a feature of the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair, this dynamite event was the result of a collaboration between the Kick Butt team, CancerCare Manitoba and the Canadian Cancer Society. A special note of thanks to Joan Madrigga, a real cancer warrior and our iron lady, who worked tirelessly throughout the whole event.
Over 13,000 individuals passed through the shockingly pink, shockingly Giant Colon!
On March 23rd, members of the Kick Butt Run committee descended upon the Manitoba legislature to spread colorectal cancer awareness and distribute CCAC educational materials.

On October 19th, several Winnipeg Cancer Coaches took to a local shopping mall to spread the word about Canada’s second most deadly cancer. Winnipegers may recognize Sid Chapnick and Dave Nash from the Kick Butt for Colorectal Cancer event, the yearly family fun run in September- but their awareness initiatives go year-round!
The M.A.T.H. (Mall Activity That’s Healthy) event strove to bring together seniors and elders for Walktober, National Walking Month. Various health and wellness groups from the Winnipeg community were on hand to dispense vital information and make connections within the community. We hope to see more events like this popping up across Canada!

Take a break from training for the Kick Butt Run and get your butt over to Garden City Shopping Centre. The Giant Colon is there in all its glory! We’ll be educating the public about colorectal cancer for the rest of the weekend and getting everyone pumped for the run on September 11th.
Guest speakers at the ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday morning included CCAC President Barry Stein, Minister Kerri Irvin-Ross (representing the province of Manitoba & Minister Oswald), Jean Sander from ColonCheck Manitoba (CancerCare Manitoba), Gord Steeves (Deputy Mayor of Winnipeg) and Linda Venus (Canadian Cancer Society). The opening ceremony was emceed by Sid Chapnick, a dedicated CCAC Cancer http://hesca.net/valium/ Coach and Chairperson of Kick Butt for Colorectal Cancer.
