Gaye Stanley’s Poems

The Face of Cancer
I didn’t know when I smiled at you.
That I had this awful disease.
I often pitied others.
But now they pity me.
I have visited places, that
I never knew I would see.
Chemo clinics and operating rooms.
Just no time for tea.
I know all of my doctors,
They all know me too.
Another operation?
We will try to see you through.
I have faced so many things,
As have all of you. I face CANCER every day.
The Face in the mirror is YOU.
I am running ahead of CANCER and facing the BULLY every day.
One day I will be CANCER FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
So will all of you.
